O conhecimento de Deus a partir da obra De Trinitate de Santo Agostinho

Resumo

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo consiste em elucidar o problema do conhecimento de Deus a partir dos livros XI-XV do De Trinitate, de Santo Agostinho. Nesse sentido, a problematização desta pesquisa diz respeito à possibilidade mesma do conhecimento trinitário. Em face dessa questão, a hipótese aqui proposta pode ser dita nos seguintes termos: através da fé em Cristo, a razão pode se elevar, superando, assim, seu estado de degradação para, enfim, alcançar a contemplatio Dei. Ainda, conforme postula Agostinho, no mais íntimo da mens manifesta-se um vestígio da Trindade mesma que é Deus, a saber: memoria Dei, intelligentia Dei e amor Dei. O método proposto neste labor acadêmico será o da revisão bibliográfica. As considerações desenvolvidas nesta pesquisa, no entanto, situam-se na perspectiva de que no horizonte dessa reflexão a pergunta pelo conhecimento de Deus não se resolve sumariamente; antes, para além de uma simples discussão restrita à antiguidade tardia, o esforço de clarificação da inteligência da fé cristã resulta ainda em um complexo dilema para a inteligência filosófica contemporânea.

Abstract: This paper aims to clarify the problem of the knowledge of God, in Books XI-XV of De Trinitate, by Saint Augustine. Thus, the problematization of this research concerns the very possibility of Trinitarian knowledge. In the face of this question, the hypothesis proposed in this paper can be presented in the following terms: through faith in Christ, reason can rise and thus overcome its state of degradation to finally attain the contemplatio dei. And yet, as Augustine postulates, in the innermost part of mens is manifested a vestige of the Trinity itself, which is God. Such a vestige is presented as memoria dei, intelligentia dei, and amor dei. The method proposed is based on literature review. However, the considerations developed during this research are situated in the perspective that in the horizon of this reflection, the question for the knowledge of God is not resolved summarily. Rather, beyond a simple discussion restricted to the Late Antiquity, the effort to clarify the intelligence of the Christian faith still results in a complex dilemma for contemporary philosophical intelligence.
