A piedade eucarística nos sermões do Pre. António Vieira

Resumo

In an attempt to examine Eucharistic piety in the sermons of Father Antonio Vieira, a topic that has to date not deserved much attention, we briefly analyse some of his texts expressly called sermon of the Holiest Sacrament” or those most closely related to the topic. The analysis follows a path from Incarnation to Ascension, in texts written in distinct styles, but which focus both on individual piety and the social effectiveness of the Eucharist. Given his appeals to frequent communion, we have included an appendix with a “theological regulation in favour of daily communion so as to elucidate the ignorance” it is attributed.
