Do you want to lose weight ? Have you thought about taking up swimming?

by Deborah Nation (2021-12-16)

Swimming is widely regarded as a method to tone up and lose weight. This is one of the reasons swimming pools in public places across the country are always packed on weekends and in the evenings.

To avoid disappointing you, I'd like to clarify that I'm not against swimming. In fact I swim regularly for my cardiovascular health.

However, studies have shown that swimming isn't a good way to lose weight. Swimming can even help you gain weight. Do you find this to be even more absurd?

Many believe that swimming is one of the most effective ways to lose weight or tone your muscles. Swimming activates most of your muscles and gives an all-body exercise. It is an aerobic activity which means that your lung and heart also get exercise.

Research published in American Journal of Sports Medicine showed that swimming does not have any effect on weight loss if there's no diet that is controlled.

Professor Grant Gwinup did an experiment which correlated swimming with weight loss, and produced shocking results.

A) Participants in the study shed 19 pounds after completing the cycling course.

b. Participants who participated in an exercise program that included walking lost 17 pounds in the same period.

c) Be prepared for this! Participants in the swimming class have actually gained 5 pounds!

Did the results shock you? It was surprising to me what I found when I first read the report.

Professor Gwinup has explained that swimming in cold water stimulates appetite, increasing caloric intake. Are you hungry after a swim. If you feel hungry after swimming, the professor could be correct.

Professor Louise Burke of the Australian Institute of Sport is the Head of Nutrition. She has pointed out that competitive swimmers often have higher body fat levels than those of cyclists and runners who train at the same degree.

This is the reason why it happens. The reason is that swimmers feel thirsty after swimming and might just replace the calories they have burned with a large food intake and a drink with sugar following their swimming.

They could also consume more calories than they did previously.

Certain studies suggest that this could be due to the cold conditions in which swimmers train. In contrast, runners and cyclists experience an increase in body temperature during training sessions. This could help decrease hunger. Professor Burke explained.

Professor Burke also stated that athletes are less energetic when they're not participating in training sessions. After hours of intensive training, swimmers are exhausted and are forced to rest, relax, or stay away from all physical activities. We'll now discuss building your muscles. Do note that most of the work your body does when swimming involves positive muscle actions and no negative action and we are all aware that the negative phase which is when you reduce the weights the weight training process is crucial in building muscle.

It is only possible to build your muscles effectively when you focus on positive muscles. Before you believe that competitive swimmers have nice muscles tone, it is crucial to know that they lift weights to maintain muscle strength and muscle balance so that they are capable of performing more strong strokes.

Swimming is an excellent sport. Any exercise or sport is superior to not doing any. After swimming, do not overeat or be less active.
